Interview PortAventura Business and Events

Recently, our RTA Team was invited to visit the magnific PortAventura situated 100km south from Barcelona in Costa Dorada Region. We talked for some minutes with Laura Valdeolivas, PortAventura Business & Events/Convention Centre Director, in order to get to know the potential of this big complex .

RTA: What is so special about PortAventura Business & Events and what can you offer to Incentive Groups and Conventions?

Laura Valdeolivas: Our European Meeting Destination Resort offers 2.000 rooms in four 4-star hotels, a versatile convention centre, with 18 multi-purpose halls accommodating to hold 3,000 people at the same time, full range of restaurant options and shows, team building activities and exclusive opening of the theme park areas.

RTA: What type of client do you usually host in your complex?

Laura Valdeolivas: Since its launch in October 2009 PortAventura Business & Events has hosted over 400 events and more than 70,000 people have taken part in conventions, seminars, sporting events and corporate incentives, on a national and international scale. Companies such as L’Oréal, Torres, Delonghi, Unilever and Coca-Cola, and have selected PortAventura to organise their business gatherings. This is in addition to other corporations and multinationals operating in all sectors, such as: Deloitte, Europcar, Levi’s, Basf, BBVA, Cadbury, Ericsson, Reckitt Benckiser, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dassault, Peugeot and Sharp among others.

RTA: Many big projects will happen in the near future; in 2016 the “Mediterranean Games” held in Tarragona, in 2016 opening of “Ferrari Land” inside the PortAventura Resort, Barcelona World in 2017 around your facilities…what do you think will be the impact of this projects and how will this effect PortAventura ?

Laura Valdeolivas: Ferrari Land it’s the most important project since PortAventura opened in 1995. The agreement with Ferrari will position PortAventura in the Premier League of the theme parks around the world and what is more important: will consolidate PortAventura as the main touristic destination resort in Europe. Regarding these projects that will take place close to PortAventura in the near future we believe that will be very positive for the touristic sector in the Costa Daurada.

Just to focus on Ferrari Land, this new branded site will be the sole Ferrari theme park in Europe and will envisage a total investment of more than €100 million. Ferrari Land will be built on a total surface area of 75,000 square meters and benefit from several rides (including the highest and fastest vertical accelerator in Europe), a new premium hotel with 250 rooms and 5 star service, restaurants, shops and large simulation areas for car racing. This new partnership with Ferrari, the world’s most powerful brand for the second consecutive year (according to the annual Global 500 report, February 2014), and PortAventura (Europe’s second largest destination resort and the largest in the Mediterranean) will allow the resort to further improve its position as a leading European destination resort.
