The new route between Barcelona and Paris by high speed Train AVE will be inaugurated on 15th December 2013
Renfe and the French railway operator SNCF started selling tickets for the new AVE high speed Train for the route Barcelona-Paris on 28th November, which will be inaugurated on 15th December, at a general price of 170 Euros and will link the two cities in seven hours and 25 minutes, which saves 1 hour and fifteen minutes from the previous route. The service requires to perform a transfer station in the Spanish Figueres-Vilafant. It also has stops in Gerona, Perpignan, Narbonne, Montpellier and Nimes.
Three years ago, Spain and France started the first AVE service between Barcelona and Paris, a cross- connection linking the two cities and now this route will be faster than ever. The two companies, which will operate this service together, are launching this route offering 2 connections in each direction daily and will be also offering three daily trains between various destinations: A link between Madrid and Marseille in about seven hours and at general price of 172 Euros, another connection between Barcelona and Toulouse in three hours for 77 Euros and the third will be the connection that links Barcelona and Lyon in about five hours for 114 Euros. All of them will have intermediate stops.
So overall, the new Franco- Spanish AVE service connects 17 cities in both countries. The two operators estimate that the current market movements between the Spanish and French cities that will link the new AVE service will be 82 million trips per year. The AVE trains will have tourist and business class catering service in the cafeteria, bilingual helpdesk crew and passengers with disabilities.
